Black Static by arctoa Black Static by arctoa

This is the second and last image in a two-part miniature series looking at how under and over-exposure can drastically alter the aesthetics of a photograph. While the first image has something of a clean atmosphere, this piece is much more sinister in nature despite being the same subject matter shot at the same time of day and in the same environmental conditions.

This dichotomy is an aspect that I am fond of and is why both images have been submitted when, perhaps, the ideal composition would have an exposure settled somewhere between these two.

A lot of motion here.
Three different directions at least.
Including those big droplets slowly evolving into bokehs.

This is great, I love it. Do you have the other part of the series in your gallery? I'd like to see the difference.

The spraying water is reminiscent of sparks, but cold (though, seeing as how many things I'm interpreting as cold, it very well might be more because I'm cold.)

Beyond the chill, I get the impression of somewhere dark and clammy and generally unpleasant. Brr.

I can see the similarity there; it's an interesting observation to make (even if it is heavily influenced by your own disposition, hah).

I'm glad it retains some validity outside of my 50-degree room!

(...why yes! I will bitch about my dorm room until such a time as people hate me or it warms up! Whichever comes first.)

Gorgeous, love the tone of this piece. The sharp water flecks contrast with the round bokeh and water drops wonderfully.
