Or, Emergence.

Another old piece from 2008, related to the Deadwood series.
The focus is a little wonky, but I sort-of like it that way.

Beautifully devised focus that really enhances the dirty moodiness that is wonderfully presented with a dull but superlative colour and texture.

Intriguing form on this one. The thumbnail made it look like it had a human form but full size it takes on almost a painterly style in that it appears you can almost see brush strokes. Not sure if you remember, but were you free lensing when you took this? I've gotten some similar results when free lensing.

Thank-you for the comment, it's most appreciated.

As for the technique, I wasn't free-lensing; in fact, I hadn't even heard of the technique before researching it in reply! It looks interesting; playing with focus is something that I enjoy, so it's certainly something that I'll be experimenting with in future. These results are just an example of the quirky nature of the Canon 50mm f1.8!

Aww I see. It's something fun to try now and again.

Especially with your eye and since you're in Europe I've seen on Ebay a large array of old lenses sell for dirt cheap on some of the Ebay Eurozone sites. Shipping offsets the cheapness factor to the US but with free lensing no need for an adapter and you can play with lenses that you normally wouldn't get a chance too.
