Project2010: 072 of 375 (March 3rd)

Another old piece brushed off and polished for submission; this one was meant for scraps but processed better than I thought it would. The subject matter is again a plasma lamp, but on a longer exposure with greater light on the subject. This, coupled with a bit of Photoshop filtering, has given a fairly striking stellar composition.

This looks very good to me! I'm fascinated by the workings of the sun and this image

Thank-you kindly, it's appreciated. The Sun is a source of inspiration and intrigue for me, too.

Yes indeed! I bumped the colour balance quite significantly, but it's a plasma lamp under that. They're fun to experiment with; I achieved this chaotic pattern by letting it get incredibly dusty.

There isn't anything I can type here to give it justice. I just really, really like this.

Yeah, it came out rather well. It's one of those images that's sat around for so long that I forgot about it when really it wasn't that bad at all. Litany of Echoes is the other prominent example of that. I'm glad you like it, anyway.

Wow that's intense. The title is spot-on - the fire I see is entirely solar in power.

I'm glad you agree; it came straight after watching a BBC documentary on the Sun itself and its influence over the solar system. I would say that it's well worth a watch but you're stuck on the wrong side of the Atlantic for that. Hah.

Showing my age, perhaps. Hah. Well, it's called Wonders Of The Solar System and the episode in question is Empire Of The Sun.

Hah, oh sure.

Thanks, I'll keep that on hand against a free afternoon.
